Experience botanical Hawaii with companions that share your passion for palms, gardens, and conservation. See the wonderful Honolulu public gardens with IPS and you won’t get lost or miss the best sights in the vast 400-acre Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden. Get the backstory on one of the world’s largest palm collections at the Lyon Arboretum with IPS experts that have been coming there for years.
The IPS provides you access to places where only insiders can go. On Hawaii island, members of the Hawaii Island Palm Society (HIPS), the local affiliate of the IPS, will be waiting to share their aloha and welcome you into Hawaii island’s legendary private gardens.
And like all IPS biennials, there is a great lineup of evening speakers including Mike DeMotta from the National Tropical Botanic Garden, and Andrew Henderson emeritus NY botanic garden.
Extra time has been built into the schedule so participants will have plenty of time to relax and visit with old friends and make new ones. A free day is planned so that you can explore your personal interests with opportunities to join optional excursions.
We have built into the schedule a free-day that you can choose to spend the day at the hotel or choose from one of three optional tours that take you to different parts of the island.
Kona Cloud Forest & Ouer Garden Tour takes you to the West side of the island, the Kona side for the day. See massive lava flows and Mauna Kea from scenic Saddle Road. Hamakua Coast Sightseeing Tour heads north out of Hilo in search of tropical plants, waterfalls and beautiful rainforest views. The final option is the Volcano Adventure which heads south into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Enter lava tubes, climb crater rims, see steaming lava and learn about it all at the visitor center.
Customize your experience of Hawaii a little bit more with more nights on Oahu. We offer this special International Palm Society member rate for the week before the event. Spend more days enjoying some of the activities that Hawaii has to offer. We offer a number of great tours that start right from your hotel. Donʻt miss the chance to visit Pearl Harbor, explore Polynesian Cultural Center and take in a luau. Book your extra nights now. The biennial officially begins on Sunday, October 9th, 2022.
We offer an option for our members who live on one of the Hawaiian islands that the event takes place on. We want you to participate without the costs of the hotels, transportations and certain meals. We encourage you to attend all events by meeting at the hotel each morning at start time.
Please choose the options for the island that you live on.
