Maui Pre Tour
Spend 3 Nights On Maui Prior To The Biennial Event
The Merwin Conservancy, Welch Garden, and Sewell Art Estate
Maui has a little bit of everything, beaches, world-class activities, bustling towns, great restaurants and beauty everywhere.
While on Maui, we will visit the palm forest of poet W.S. Merwin, the east Maui palm garden of Jerry and Robin Welch, and the Sewell Art Estate with its garden structures created from pieces of now defunct sugar cane mills. We will stop between gardens for lunch at Michael and Mary Lock’s lychee farm. There will be a free day to play in the water or explore the other parts of Maui.

Day 1: Arrival Day. Welcome to the Island of Maui
|VARIES||Flights from your nearest city to Hawaii and return are not included in the Biennial event package.
Welcome to the Island of Maui, the “Valley Isle”.
Upon landing in Kahului make your way to the shuttle or taxi for pickup. You will need to book your own transportation to the Kaanapali Beach Hotel on the first day once you land. Itʻs about a 50-minute drive from the airport to the hotel.
At the hotel, The International Palm Society Maui Arrival Banquet starts at 5:00 pm. We will be enjoying dinner at the Hui Hui restaurant.
Day 2: North Shore Garden Tour
|9:00AM||A wonderful sightseeing drive along the coastline and around the beautiful West Maui Mountains starts our day of exploration.|
We visit the beautiful palm forest planted by poet W.S. Merwin in the Peahi Stream Valley
|12:30PM||Enjoy a picnic lunch at Michael & Mary Lockʻs Lychee Farm.|
|1:30PM||Spend some time in the Welch Private Palm Garden|
|2:30PM||We explore the wonderful Sewell Art Estate with all itʻs interesting sculpture and pieces placed throughout the large property.|
|4:30PM||Arrive back to the hotel in Kaanapali to enjoy a beautiful sunset and a dinner on your own.|
Day 3: Free Day To Enjoy On Your Own
|9:00AM||The day is yours. Your local guides are available to suggest some options that fit your personality. We suggest taking in some snorkeling, followed by a great lunch and some relaxing by the pool or at the beach. Head to one of the nearby ocean view restaurants in good time to enjoy a great table for sunset.|
|Varies||There is so much to see on the island of Maui that you can book an activity of your choice. These are small group or premium experiences and transportation to and from the check-in location is included (if needed).|
Day 4: Departure Day To Honolulu
|5:30 AM||Board Members catching the early transfer and flight to Oahu must be ready for the shuttle at this time. Flight from Kahului for board members is at 8:00 AM.|
|9:00 AM||Enjoy the morning enjoying an ocean view breakfast on your own or a quick dip in the ocean before getting ready to check out to leave for the airport.|
|11:00 AM||Checkout from your hotel and meet the guide for a group transfer to Kahului airport. We will arrive to the airport about 1.5 hours prior to the flight.|
|1:50 PM||The flights are planned so that we arrive into Honolulu right when we can check into the hotel.|
|3:30 PM||Arrive at the hotel in Waikiki on the island of Oahu and prepare for the event start banquet that evening.|

Please note any cancellations once deposit or full payment is made and if guests cancel for any reason there is a $250 non refundable fee.
HTA offers credit insurance which means guests will not receive a cash refund but the amount guests paid after the deduction of the $250 non refundable fee, the balance will be applied to a future travel date for up to 2 years from original travel date. For example if guest paid $2,000 and after the $250 cancellation fee is applied, the guest will have a $1,750 credit they can apply to their future travel expense to Hawaii.
