Kauai Zipbike Tour Features
Koloa Town
Koloa Town was founded in 1835 by sugar planters from China, making it the first Chinese settlement in Hawai’i. The town soon became a center for the sugar industry on Kauai, with several large plantations located nearby. Today, Koloa town is a popular tourist destination, with many visitors coming to learn about its history and see its beautiful setting. There are a number of historic sites located in Koloa town, including the Koloa Sugar Mill, which operated from 1835 to 1837 as one of the first sugar mills in Hawaii, and the Koloa Heritage Center, which is a museum dedicated to the history of the sugar industry in Hawaii.
Waita Reservoir
Waita Reservoir is the second largest reservoir in Hawaii, behind only Halali’i Lake on Ni’ihau. The reservoir covers 425 acres and is located on a site overlooking Koloa. The reservoir is bound on three sides by hills and has a 28-foot-high dam on the fourth side. Waita Reservoir provides irrigation water for the surrounding area and is also a popular spot for fishing, swimming, and picnicking.
