Description

Start your morning with a continental breakfast with beautiful views before starting the winding road that is the Hana Highway. Your tour begins right at pickup from your hotel or condo as your guide takes you down the plantation routes and historic roads around the island of Maui.

We go through small towns of Mauiʻs North Shore and beaches that are paradise for surfers of all ages making a stop for a breakfast you can purchase on your own. Before long, we enter the thick rainforest that makes up most of Mauiʻs Northern coast. Around almost every one of the 600 turns there is an amazing scene and at each of the 50 historic bridges you pass over, there are waterfalls to be found.

You will make many stops for treats, pictures and even some time to smell the beautiful tropical flowers. Your guide will keep you entertained and feeling great while you learn about the island's history and people through entertaining stories and fun facts.

The tour will visit the beautiful Wainapanapa State park and itʻs black sand beach. You will also be able to swim in a waterfall pool if weather permits. With over 120 miles to cover and sometimes going as slow as 20 miles / hour. We pack in over 4 hours of stops on this all day tour. You will be glad you choose to ride in our comfortable vans with elevated seats and huge windows so you can take in all the beauty in style and comfort.

In Hana we will stop at great places for lunch that your guide will recommend. Lunch is purchased on your own. We will take some time before and after lunch to explore the area around the historic town of Hana.

We will return back down the Hana Highway for a second dose of incredible views at various overlooks, spend some time at a waterfall pool where you can swim, and even stop to check out some turtles (not always there).

The tour guide will return you to your hotel or condo in South or West Maui in time for a late dinner.

Itinerary

8:05 AM - 8:30 AM - Your tour begins at pickup from your hotel, condo or pier.
8:40 AM - Drive through the beach town of Paia and see the surfers at Hookipa.
9:00 AM - A light breakfast with beautiful views of the West Maui Mountains
10:00 AM - Begin the winding part of the Hana Highway.
10:30 AM - Tropical Rainforest - Experience America's longest highway through a rainforest as you drive through the Hāna Highway.
11:00 AM - Ke'anae - This peninsula of land jets out into the Pacific Ocean bravely enduring the crashing of the waves.
11:30 AM - Wailua Valley - The Wailua Valley can be seen from this cliffside as you pass by Ke'anae.
12:00 PM - Beautiful Maui Waterfalls - The most beautiful waterfalls are found on this road to Hāna.
12:40 PM -Hāna Town & Bay - Exposure to local life in this culturally enriched small town village where the local community gathers for surfing, fishing and canoeing at Hāna Bay.
1:10 PM - Hana Farms Stop - Enjoy a lunch that you can purchase on your own. Your guide will choose from a variety of locations for you to enjoy
2:00 PM - Wai'ānapanapa State Park - Highlights a black sand beach, blowhole, caves, and a ton more!
3:10 PM - Puʻu Kaʻa State Park - Swimming location under a waterfall with multiple scenic small waterfalls.
4:30 PM - North Shore Beaches - Stop to check out some wild Hawaiian green sea turtles resting on the local beaches (when available).
5:30 PM - Your guide returns you to your hotel or condo in West or South Maui in time for dinner.

Shared Hana tours are exclusively available on Sundays for Pride of America passengers. For those wishing to explore Hana on a Monday, we recommend booking a private Hana tour.

Meals & Drinks

Meals and other food items are not included in this tour. We encourage our guests to spend directly in the community to support the local families, many of whom have been there for generations. Your guide may purchase some must-try items for you to sample.

You will have the opportunity to pre-order breakfast and lunch items so they are time-prepared and fresh for our arrival. We have many great Polynesian-inspired foods at our stops including wonderful local takes on pastries and cafe treats, coffee, breakfast burritos, bagels, pizza, salads, BBQ, and more. Your guide can help make great food recommendations happen. Including a stop for banana bread at Aunty Sandyʻs.

There will be cold beverages in the cooler all day long. We encourage guests to bring refillable water bottles and we will help refill them throughout the day.

Is There Cell Phone Service On Maui And This Tour?

Maui has ok cellular service throughout the majority of the island where visitors will spend most of their vacation time. Sprint and AT&T have decent coverage, and Verizon has an extensive cellular network. This tour is different as takes the Road to Hana has very little coverage from start to finish. It is a remote area so be prepared for zero coverage for most of the day while actively riding down the highway.
Will This Tour Be Ok For My Toddler?

Yes! This tour is meant to be enjoyed by the whole family. Children two and under ride free if child is on a lap and does not occupy a seat.
Will Food Be Available?

Yes, both breakfast and lunch will be available. The meals are not included in the tour price as we encourage guests to buy directly from the local community as we drive through. Gluten-Free and Vegetarian options are also available upon advanced request for pre-ordering at our favorite places.
What Is The Hana Highway?

The Hana Highway is a 52 mile stretch of road that runs along the coast of northern Maui, and is complete with iconic views of Maui’s coastline and oceans. Along the road are souvenir stands with local handmade jewelry, leis, pineapples, banana bread, and other Hawaiian delights.

Does The Tour Stop At Aunty Sandy’s Banana Bread Stand?

Having some banana bread is definitely on the list for all tour guides and they know where all the good ones are. Aunty Sandyʻs is well known and has been featured on multiple TV shows but it is by no means the only stand that sells incredible bread. The lines sometimes are too long so guides will bypass it for other places but if the timing is right and the lines are short, most guides will make the stop.
Can you tell me if there are gluten-free options available for breakfast?

Yes, gluten-free meals are available during our breakfast stop. This tour will make a reservation but you will pay for your order on your own. You may be able to order different items upon arrival.
How many people are on the bus to "an incredible road to Hana experience"?

There is a maximum of 12 guests on our Hana tours unless you book a private tour. If your group has more than 13 guests, you may be split up into separate vehicles due to the size limitations of the the Hana Highway.
