Memories to last a lifetime
There is no better way to experience Haleakalā National Park than on your own two feet. Enjoy the great outdoors on a variety of trails in the two dramatically different districts. If you’re lucky, you will see the endemic ‘āhinahina (silversword), along with other small plants. Admire the ancient lava flows and pu‘u (hills from old eruption sites) on these trails. Be sure to bring your camera to document this incredible trek.
Learn Hawaiian history and culture
Of the cultural resources we have inherited from the past, it is the knowledge, traditions, songs, and stories shared by people of today that give life to the Haleakalā landscape. Native Hawaiians have lived on and mālama (cared for) the land for over 1,000 years. Your local guide will share information about the important cultural places and sites found within the Summit and Kīpahulu areas of Haleakalā National Park.
