Description

See a world that's hidden just below the water. The ocean holds secrets and wonderous sights unlike anything seen on land. From tropical fish to incredible rock formations, there is so much to see, and a submarine is the best way to take it all in. Begin your undersea adventure at check-in at our office across from the Kailua-Kona Pier at least 30 minutes prior to departure. We will then take you to our boat, which will shuttle you to the waiting submarine.

For a full 45 minutes, you are submerged beneath the waves along the Kona coastline. Reaching depths of almost 100 feet. We can see the rich coral and abundant marine life that make this 25-acre coral reef its home.

Our 48-person sub comes with audio narration in multiple languages so everyone can listen and learn as we glide past fascinating and beautiful underwater life. Dive into the waters of paradise in a submarine and create lifetime memories.

Itinerary

Check in at the Atlantis Ticketing office 30 minutes prior to tour time
Board the Malama Kai shuttle boat for transfer to our submarine.
Begin your undersea adventure!
Return to the shuttle for transfer back to the pier
Total 1-hour tour with 45 minutes submerged in the submarine.

This tour operates daily except Sunday and Monday with scheduled departure times at 10:15 am, 11:30 am, 12:45 pm and 2:00 pm.

Instructions

Children MUST be a minimum of 36" in height to ride the submarine. Each guest is required to independently navigate a nearly vertical 10-step ladder into and out of the submarine. Food and beverages will not be provided on this tour.
All tours are in English. Headset providing narrations in Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Spanish are available upon request at no additional cost.

When Is The Best Time To Sail? Morning Or Afternoon?

Due to the depth the sub travels around at (submerged around 100 feet) the brighter the light, the more you tend to see. Late morning, when the sun is high and the wind hasnʻt yet kicked up to full strength will normally provide some of the best viewing conditions.
What Will We See On This Tour?

Tucked away off the coast of Kona, you can discover an incredible paradise beneath the waves! With a scuba mask and fins as your passport to adventure, explore sunken ships from centuries past alongside yellow tangs swimming between coral formations. Keep your eyes peeled - even mysterious pyramid structures have emerged here amidst gentle Hawaiian green sea turtles and curious eels!
What Is The Minimum Age?

Children must be at least 3 years old and 36” tall to ride on the submarine. The safety equipment onboard the submarine has a minimum height requirement of 3 feet tall. Getting into and out of the submarine requires you to enter and exit through a hatch and down about 7 rungs of a ladder.

I Am Pregnant. Can I Go On This Tour?

If you are between one to six months pregnant and not experiencing any pregnancy-related medical issues, you should be fine. Your comfort depends on your tolerance to the motion on the shuttle boat that takes you to the submarine. Passengers are seated for 45 minutes, leaning forward slightly to look out the viewport. Hardly any motion is felt as the submarine glides around underwater and you are sitting in air-conditioned comfort. Please note that there are no bathrooms on board.
Should We Bring A Camera?

Yes, we encourage passengers to bring their cameras.
I Am Claustrophobic. Can I Go On This Tour?

Yes, and it may help you with this problem. People with claustrophobia who have gone on the submarine report being surprised that they tend to focus out through the viewport into the wide open ocean space rather than inside the submarine itself.
Is this comfortable for a large man?

Getting in and out of the submarine requires you to fit through a hatch of less than 2 feet in diameter. You must be able to fit through that and down the ladder to open bench seating in front of large windows.
