Originally from the Black Hills of South Dakota, Doug first moved to Maui in 1983 and has lived on the island for 25 of the last 40 years. He’s been a professional photographer and writer for decades and has been driving, photographing and marketing the road to Hana and Haleakala for over 20 years. Today he photographs activities on all 4 major islands. He also trains and manages our talented crew of guides and drivers while developing interesting, safe and culturally respectful experiences of Maui’s diverse beauty. He loves sharing his Aloha with guests through the history, stories and legends of old Hawaii. Doug has written and published over 50 articles over the years about topics such as Hawaiian history timelines, Pearl Harbor, Kilauea Volcano, Canoe plants, ancient Polynesian navigation, the Hawaiian Monarchy, Maui geology & history and many more.
