Our Kuleana

Kuleana means “responsibility.” At our dive sites, we've been responsible for installing artificial reefs to create habitats for fish and marine life to flourish. In return, we have seen an amazing increase in the number of undersea residents in the area. Once, these areas were desolate, and now dozens of species of native sea life flourish here. In addition, our submarines are battery-powered and emit no pollutants into the waters of Hawaii.

Description

Being in a submarine and descending to 100 feet underwater is an adventure in itself. You will also get to see real marine life up close, in a spacious, air-conditioned interior, large view ports, and comfortable seating. The submarine portion will be 45-50 minutes long, and the total duration will be one hour and 30 minutes. This will give you ample time under the water to see and appreciate the wonders that lie just below Hawaii's waters. With the incredible views and modern technology, you will really feel what it is like to be on a sub like you've seen in the movies. Don't miss an opportunity to go to the bottom of the ocean in Hawaii off Waikiki.

Please arrive 30 minutes in advance of the start of your tour to give yourself time to check in. The reefs are waiting for you, so don't be late!

Please meet at the Hilton Hawaiian Village (2005 Kalia Rd. Honolulu, HI 96815) at Atlantis beachfront pavilion in front of the Ali'i Tower. The boat will leave from the pier just out in front.

Instructions

Passengers must be 36 inches or taller to ride the submarine.
Food and beverages not provided on this tour.
All passengers must be physically capable of ascending and descending a near vertical ladder in order to take this tour.
Audio headset narrations are available in English, Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin, and Korean.

Cancellation

Any request for a refund 72 hours or more prior to the start of the tour or activity is honored with a full refund.

No refunds are issued for any cancellations inside the 72-hour period, prior to the start of your tour. There is no refund for no-shows. There is no charge for date change or tour change based on tour availability outside of the 72-hour cancellation period.

How Long Does The Underwater Portion Of The Tour Last?

The tour is 1 hour and 45 minutes in length. We ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes before your dive time. For those who are using transportation from Waikiki, please allow for about 3 hours in total.
What Will We See Underwater?

Marine life that you may encounter includes Hawaiian green sea turtles, yellow tangs, eels, sharks, and more! There are also sunken ships, remains of airliners, and pyramid structures that have mixed with mother nature to become a refuge for all sorts of tropical marine life here off the coast of Waikiki.
What Is The Minimum Age?

Children must be at least 3 years old and 36” tall to ride on the submarine. The safety equipment onboard the submarine has a minimum height requirement of 3 feet tall. Getting into and out of the submarine requires you to enter and exit through a hatch and down about 7 rungs of a ladder.
What If I Am Claustrophobic?

The Atlantis XIV provides the most spacious, safe viewing conditions possible for a submarine. This includes viewports were 65% larger than those available on other tours and more personal space per guest due to our comfortable individual seats. We recommend this tour to any guests who are concerned about tight, cramped quarters; you'll have plenty of breathing room on this tour.

When Is The Best Time To Sail? Morning Or Afternoon?

Due to the depth the sub travels around at (submerged around 100 feet) the brighter the light, the more you tend to see. Late morning, when the sun is high and the wind hasnʻt yet kicked up to full strength will normally provide some of the best viewing conditions.
