Deluxe Volcano Experience Tour Features
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
We travel over the wild landscapes of the active Kilauea Volcano to witness the primal process of creation and destruction in this ancient and powerful place. Feel the heat of steam vents rising from cracks in the earth and take a short hike through the Thurston Lava Tube. If the lava is flowing, we’ll time our adventure so you can see it in the best possible location.
Family-Friendly and Nature Filled Experience
Throughout the tour day, we will stop at various overlooks and take in scenic drives, including a cruise down Alii Drive in Kailua Kona and a short stop for our guests staying in Waikoloa. We will make stops at craters and lava flows of various styles and areas. Each with its own history, much of that being fairly recent. We will stop for snacks, great plants, trees, and native Hawaiian forest views as well as stopping in quaint and historic towns.
South Kona Coffee and Black Sand Beach
Breathe in the fresh mountain air and catch the scents of nature. The Kona coffee belt produces exceptional coffee due to volcanic soil, ample rain, high elevations, and the perfect amount of sunshine. Then, we will dip our toes in the water at the incredible Punaluu Black Sand Beach – home to many nesting Hawaiian sea turtles.
Big Island Stargazing and Skywatching
Many of our visitors live in large cities, so seeing the stars like they are in Hawaii is a very special experience. The skies above Hawaii are known to be crystal clear most of the year, making it the perfect place to take some time to check out the sky. Your guide will stop in a dark site area above Kona so you can enjoy some time under the stars. Check out the constellations, plants, and even the Milky Way on moonless nights.

Description
On this tour, you'll get to experience some of the best that the island of Hawaii has to offer. We will pick you up at your Kona location and travel south through Kona Coffee Country, making stops at a farm, multiple overlooks, and a bakery. You'll take in expansive views of the Kona coastline as you make your way to sample some of the island's finest homegrown coffees and purchase some locally made Hawaiian sweetbreads and malasadas.
A stop at Punalu’u black sand beach is a great place to dip your toes in the water and grab some pictures of Hawaiian sea turtles in their natural environment. Next, our tour climbs 4,000 feet to visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. At the park, you'll see some of the world's most unique geological landscapes, including the active volcano Kilauea. We will explore lava tubes, see some exhibits at the visitor center, and check out a few different short walks through various rainforest and native forest environments.
The tour continues to wrap around the island and we visit the historic town of Hilo, making a stop for dinner (purchased on your own) and checking out some waterfalls, including Rainbow Falls. The beautiful walks, gardens, landscape, and people are shaped by the volcanic events over the centuries that occurred around Mauna Loa and plentiful rain. We have umbrellas and towels for your use!
After dinner, your guide takes you up over the mountain for some epic viewing of the stars. We will find a dark, beautiful patch of sky (when conditions allow) and allow you to enjoy the view for a little while. Take some night pictures with help from your guide and you will get some beautiful memories. You won't believe what is out there!
The tour concludes back at your Kailua-Kona hotel or Waikoloa Resort drop-off.
*We encourage our guests to purchase food, souvenirs, and other items directly from the many families and family businesses that we utilize on our tours.

Grandma would make laulau to feed the family and friends, fresh meat wrapped and cooked in taro leaves. It became so popular they opened a restaurant to feed everyone, that was over 25 years ago.
