We will share the story and show you where the 2018 eruption occurred that drastically altered the island’s landscape. Peer into the depths of Halemaumau Crater which has doubled in size and watch steam clouds form as groundwater seeps onto hot volcanic rock at the famous Steam Vents. Passengers weighing between 240lbs & up require an additional Comfort Seat at $250/person.

Instructions

We will no longer provide car seats for children on our Big Island tours. Guests traveling with young children must bring their own car seats.

Cancellation

Any inter-island tour or Big Island tours originating from the Islands of Maui, and Oahu may incur up to $100.00 per person airline change fee (when flights are included in your tour) for any changes to the original booking. Any request for a refund prior to 72 hours will result in a full credit for a future tour and a credit for airline flights in only the originally reserved names.

Travel Insurance: A cash refund is available on tours with flights when you purchase the travel insurance (available during the booking process) and you have an emergency or had some unforeseen medical issue occur prior to 72 hours to your tour start date. No refunds are issued for any tours canceled or changed (even with insurance) within the 72-hour period, prior to the start of your tour.

How Is The Seating Done On The Helicopter? Can I Sit Up Front?

Seating is done by weight and balance. There is an option for passengers to purchase and secure front-row seats at an additional cost which can be done when you make your reservation. For each guest weighing 260 pounds or more, an adjacent empty seat purchase is required to safely balance the aircraft. Certain restrictions apply.
Is The Interisland Flight Included In The Price?

Yes, the interisland flight is included in the price of the tour. The ticket purchase is final, therefore any scheduling changes made must be paid by you. Please make sure we have the correct legal name when purchasing your tickets. For our tours, we must secure the flights directly so all guests match up to the same flight arrival time on your travel date.
What Are The Meal Options?

The tour stops at various restaurants for meals. Guests are given breakfast and lunch options in picturesque settings and the meals are not included in the tour price. A brief stop may occur depending on group and timing at various local vendors that offer tasty local treats and gifts.
How Long And What Will We See On This Helicopter Flight?

The helicopter flight will range between 45 to 55 minutes in length. During this time you will fly from the Hilo airport, along the side of Mauna Loa, over rainforests, rural areas, farms, and waterfalls, until you reach the edges of Volcanoes National Park. At that point, you begin to see features like smoking craters, long cracks in the ground, historic lava flows, and miles of untouched native rainforest. After circling the craters in the park, the tour makes its way back to the coastline. The route will change based on what is good to see that day. Your pilot will know best.

What Should I Pack For The Day?

Please be sure to bring your reusable water bottle, snacks, comfortable walking shoes, a light jacket, and sun protection. Darker clothes are recommended as they prevent reflection when in the helicopter if you are taking lots of pictures. You will need a government-issued photo ID to board your flight to and from Hilo from Honolulu.
Can We Take This Tour From Another Island?

Yes, we can make custom arrangements to take this tour from any of the other major Hawaiian Islands. Unfortunately, due to the flight times between islands, we may have to make your experience private and use smaller carriers between islands. We love planning amazing days so ask us about making a customized itinerary for your group.
How can I purchase a tour just for myself?

Our value and service are based upon a group booking this tour. We can accommodate single travelers, but they will, in some cases, have to pay for the 2nd person, to meet a minimum operating level. We do make exemptions if there is already a group booked for that day and availability allows.
