The Weekly Beach Cleanup at Morgan’s Pond, organized by the Friends of Kamalani & Lydgate Park, invites volunteers to make a difference every Saturday morning. Volunteers meet near the lifeguard tower at 8:30 AM and work until 10:30 AM to remove debris from the beach and surrounding areas, ensuring that the shoreline remains clean and safe for both visitors and marine life.
This event is a fantastic opportunity to engage in environmental conservation while enjoying the beautiful coastal scenery of Kauai. The cleanup efforts not only help to protect marine ecosystems but also contribute to the overall cleanliness and appeal of Lydgate Park, a beloved community space.
Whether you're a local resident, a visitor to the island, or looking for a meaningful family activity, this beach cleanup welcomes participants of all ages and skill levels. All necessary tools, including gloves and trash bags, are provided, and volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water, sunscreen, and reusable bags for collecting smaller debris.
Itinerary
- 8:30 AM: Meet at Morgan's Pond, near the lifeguard tower, for introductions and instructions.
- 8:45 AM: Begin beach cleanup activities, collecting debris from the beach and surrounding areas.
- 10:00 AM: Short break for water and snacks (bring your own).
- 10:15 AM: Continue cleaning the beach area and finishing up any remaining tasks.
- 10:30 PM: Wrap up the day's work and thank volunteers for their contribution.
