The Kaehu Beach Cleanup takes place on Maui and offers volunteers the chance to protect one of the island’s beautiful coastal areas. Organized by local conservation groups, these cleanups focus on removing harmful debris, such as plastic and litter, that pose significant threats to the marine environment.
You will meet at Kaehu Beach and will be provided with gloves, bags, and necessary tools. After a brief introduction to the day's tasks, comb the beach, collect trash and ensure the shoreline is free of debris. The event fosters a strong sense of community and environmental stewardship while offering participants an opportunity to enjoy the serene beauty of Kaehu Beach.
These cleanup events are open to all ages, making them a great activity for families, school groups, or visitors to the island who want to give back to the environment. Itinerary
- 8:30 AM: Meet at Kaehu Beach for sign-in and introductions.
- 8:45 AM: Briefing on safety and cleanup tasks by the event organizers.
- 9:00 AM: Begin the beach cleanup, collecting litter and debris along the shoreline.
- 10:30 AM: Short break for water and snacks (bring your own).
- 10:45 AM: Resume cleanup activities and focus on any remaining areas.
- 12:00 PM: Wrap up, group reflection, and thank volunteers for their contributions.

- Price: Free of charge
- Availability: Cleanups are held on the 4th Sunday of every month.
