Description

Your flight takes off from Lihue Airport and heads west, providing stunning views of Kauai’s coastline. Weather permitting; the tour will then take you inland to fly through Waimea Canyon – nicknamed “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” You’ll be amazed by the canyon’s red dirt cliffs, green vegetation, and river winding its way through the center. Next, the aircraft will travel along Kauai’s north shore. Gaze down at the turquoise waters of Hanalei Bay. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a whale or two frolicking in the open ocean (seasonal). The tour then turns south and flies over countless waterfalls tumbling down the verdant mountainside of Hanalei Valley. Finally, fly into the crater of Mt. Wai`ale`ale – one of the wettest spots on earth – before heading back to Lihue Airport.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do people experience motion sickness on the planes?

We try to limit the motion you will feel on the plane. We do our very best to keep the turns shallow and the motion to a minimum so that you can focus on the beautiful scenery and not have to worry. But there are windy days here, and that does create turbulence in the air. We try to avoid the more turbulent areas and to minimize turning as much as possible. You will not feel as much motion in a plane as you will on a boat — it’s more like a bus — but on a windy day, it is like a bus on a winding road. If you are motion sensitive in a car, this is similar.
What about the weather? What happens if it is cloudy or raining?

Unfortunately, we do have rainy days out here. We try hard to work with you and reschedule, if possible, especially if it looks like the weather will be improving during your stay. So, we do suggest booking in the early part of your stay so there will be another day to reschedule to if needed.
Will I be charged if we have to cancel due to weather?

If we cancel your tour due to weather, you will be immediately refunded your full payment. We generally are the first tour operator to cancel because we don’t want to make you pay to go up and see clouds. But sometimes you just have to go and see what you can see because the weather just isn’t going to give us a break.
What is the difference between the Cessna and the AirVan?

The Cessna carries only two, or sometimes you can make it three if you are small enough. They fly the same tour route at the same speed, the difference is the privacy. If you want to have the pilot to yourselves and you want to make sure one of you is in the co-pilot seat then the Cessna is for you. It’s cozy, and you really fit best if you are under 220 pounds. The AirVan is our larger plane, it carries four to six passengers per flight. It is more comfortable in some ways, and can carry more weight, the weight limit is much higher. The AirVan has large bubble windows so you can see all around and down a bit better. And sometimes it’s fun to be with another couple or party of three and enjoy the tour with them as well. Our pilots do a great job of including everyone into the conversation and making sure everyone has a great view.

Can children go on this tour?

We love to take children up with us! We have traveled extensively in small planes with our two kids, from infancy to adulthood, and they have always loved it! AirVan: Children 2 and under can sit on your lap free of charge. The 3-year-olds must be given a seat, but still, we don’t charge for them. But sorry we cannot give away two free seats on a tour, if you have one free infant or toddler, the second infant or toddler will be half price. Thanks for your understanding, wish we had more seats. Cessna: Those 2 and younger can sit on your lap and ride for free! Children 3 to 5 years old require a seatbelt but are discounted 50%. Please call us when making reservations with children 0 to 5 years old so we can apply your discounts.
