Kipu Ranch is a 3,000-acre, privately-owned cattle ranch located on the island of Kauai. The ranch is rich in history and picturesque landscapes and was established in 1872. Visitors and residents are encouraged to explore the rich history, landscape and legends that make Kauai a popular place to visit amongst tourists. Kipu Ranch is centrally located in Lihue.
On the south shore of Kauai is the iconic Mount Haupu (aka Black Mountain) the highpoint of a long East-West ridge that divides Poipu from Lihue. The 2,297-foot summit is rugged with steep cliffs and dense vegetation and seemingly no public access trails to the top. Mt. Haupo is known as the weather gauge of the south shore. If the top 1/3 of the mountain is covered in clouds and/or a rainbow is nearby, expect rain soon. If it’s nothing but blue skies on top, it’s going to be a sunny day.
Kipu Kai is a large cove on the south-east coast of Kauai, between Lihue and Poipu. It is one of the most isolated beaches with a shoreline that stretches for 2 miles long and consists of four beautiful white sand beaches. You can see the pristine beach beach below where the steep slopes of Mt. Haupu meets the sea.
