In the 20th century, the sugar industry on Kauai and in Hawaii was booming, and the Old Koloa Sugar Mill stands as a testimony to that time. Since it’s closure in 1996 it has become a popular tourist attraction even though the main structures are closed to the public. This site is also a favorite among Hollywood directors and can be seen in the 2019 Fast & Furious movie Hobbs & Shaw.

Wilcox Tunnel

The Wilcox tunnel is a wide 20 foot by 20 foot structure that runs for a half mile though a mountain. It was engineered by a man named Elbert Gillin shortly after World War II. Since then, nature has taken over the interior of the tunnel with every surface being covered in greenery.

Tour Description

Be sure to arrive 45 minutes before your scheduled tour time to check in at the office in Old Koloa Town. After everyone is geared up and listened to a brief safety presentation you will get to hop into your Polaris RZR 1000 vehicles and embark on one of the best scenic tours of Kauai. Over the course of 3 hours you will get to explore a wide range of landscapes and landmarks including the Old Koloa Sugar Mill, the Wilcox Tunnel, and several filming locations from movies like Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean. There will also be two stops along the way where you can stretch your legs. Hike down to Mahaulepu Beach to check out native flora and fauna, and try your hand at fishing in the Waita Reservoir with a traditional bamboo fishing pole.

All drivers must be 18 years of age with a valid Driver’s License. Guests who want to take the tour but are under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 25 years of age or older.
Can I take the tour if I’m pregnant?

No, because of the rough nature of offroading we do not allow pregnant women to come on these tours.
Are there any health restrictions?

We do not allow guests to come on the tour if they have serious back problems, recent surgeries, joint issues, or heart conditions. We do our best to provide a safe and fun experience, but offroading with an ATV can be a rough ride.
Can I bring a friend?

Yes! Kauai Zipbike is perfect for groups or solo adventurers.
What should I wear?

We recommend comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting wet. Closed-toe shoes are required.
