Description

The sunrises of Hawai'i are famous all over the world for a reason. A stunning display of amber rays and vivid reds bathe the sky in a portrait that everyone needs to see. Pictures do no justice to this unbelievable view, you need to experience it for yourself!

On this tour, we will explore several parts of Haleakalā National Park, including the Summit District, Summit Visitor Center, Kalahaku Overlook, and Haleakalā Headquarters Visitor Center. Our early morning tour begins with your pick-up from all South & West Side hotels or condos. Your expert, local guides will transport you across the island on a 38-mile (1.5-hours) drive to the summit of Haleakalā to view the sunrise. This tour includes a full breakfast after sunrise before returning you to your hotel in the late-morning hours. That way, you can focus all of your attention on the stunning sights without worrying about the hassle of transportation or the rumbling of your belly. The food will be filling, but the real joy is in the true wonder you will feel seeing the majesty of nature unfold before your eyes!

The tour runs year-round, with pick-up times beginning at 2:10 am in the spring and summer months and beginning at 2:40 am in the autumn and winter. Visitors are reminded to dress in warm layers, as the trip to the summit of Mt. Haleakala can be quite chilly, averaging about 20 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. After a day at the Haleakalā National Park, visitors are returned to their drop off locations.

Instructions

Group size is limited to 24 guests per guide. Our custom-built Maui sunrise tour cruisers come in 12 and 24-passenger sizes.

If you are planning to go scuba diving, please give at least 48 hours between your dive and going up to the summit of Haleakalā due to compressed air sickness.

Cancellation

Any request for a refund 72 hours or more prior to the start of the tour or activity is honored with a full refund.

No refunds are issued for any cancellations inside the 72-hour period, prior to the start of your tour. There is no refund for no-shows. There is no charge for date change or tour change based on tour availability outside of the 72-hour cancellation period.

There are no refunds if your tour encounters weather that does not include a perfect sunrise. Your guide will do their best to make up for it.

What Time Should I Get To Haleakala For Sunrise?

To be at the summit before the sun rises we'd suggest entering the park in the morning no later than 4:30 AM. The drive to the park entrance from Kahului is about 1 hour.
Do You Need Reservations For Haleakala Sunrise?

If you are not on a tour you will need a Haleakala Summit Sunrise Reservation. They are required and available year-round for a $1.00 reservation fee per vehicle. Visitors without a reservation may enter the park after 7:00 a.m.
Where Do We Watch The Sunrise On This Tour?

We enter Haleakala National Park and experience the sunrise overlooking the valley that is called Haleakala Crater. From the summit district of the mountain, we will have incredible views and the stars before sunrise will be pretty spectacular too. Weather permitting.
Where Can We Be Picked Up For This Tour?

We will pick you up at all major hotels, resorts, condominium complexes and major retail centers in West, South & Central Maui. We can not pick up at a campsite or camping location unless itʻs near a commercial address. You can park at one of the major shopping centers and we can then pick you up from there if you are not staying in a major hotel, resort or condo complex. Tours do not pick up guests at private houses or in neighborhoods.

Does The Tour Pickup At Condos And Vacation Rentals Or Only Big Resorts And Hotels?

The sunrise tour pick up times are generally between 2 and 4 am depending on the time of the year. Because of this, we have a bit more flexibility on where we can pickup guests, sometimes right at the driveway in front of the condo building, especially on the major roads. Our vehicles can not go up into small neighborhoods or private locations so you will be required to meet us at the nearest major commercial or retail center to your location.
What Spots Does The Tour Stop For Us To Have A Special Ceremony?

Kalahaku Overlook is the only place that we stop on our tour where it is approved to scatter ashes of your loved one. You can apply for a permit ahead of time to do this from the park directly. There are other areas in the park where you can scatter ashes with a permit. They include; Pu’u’ula’ula (Red Hill), Pa’Ka’oao (White Hill), and Leleiwi Overlook.
Are there bathrooms on the Haleakala Sunrise Tour?

On the sunrise tour, clean restrooms can be found at multiple stops throughout the tour. One at the entrance of the park, another at the summit where we will watch sunrise and a 3rd at the breakfast stop made after sunrise.
