Polynesian Cultural Center
While people from all over the world know the word ‘aloha’ and feel the warm embrace of the word, few are aware of the extensive history of the Hawaiian people, an origin story that crosses oceans and numerous foreign islands. Though it dominates Oceania, Polynesian culture is underrepresented in much of the world which is one reason the Polynesian Cultural Center has worked so diligently to represent these island nations through cultural experiences. The activity center started out in 1962 as a hukilau (a traditional fishing festival) that included a feast and entertainment. It has since expanded to offer many activities, experiences, and places to eat and shop.
There is a lot of amazing things to learn and enjoy from the Polynesian culture. Make it a stop on your vacation for a luau, a day exploring the villages, or combine it with another popular stop.
We also feature an inter-island day trip. Visit the 2 most popular sites in all of Hawaii. Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Center on Oahuʻs North Shore.
PCC also features a vast lagoon where you can take a canoe ride or enjoy catching some fish with our rods and fish food. (The keiki love it.) Couple this with an award-winning buffet-style luau, multiple theaters, restaurants, and shops, and you have a world-class destination not to be missed!
