The trail at Haleakalā National Park will be one of the highlights of your trip to Maui. You will see some of the most stunning rainforest and waterfall scenes on the island. This trail is full of variety from native forests, to invasive bamboo, vines, and more. This stop also includes a visit to the visitor center and time to explore inside. This is also home to the famous Pools of ʻOheʻo (Seven Sacred Pools) which were once a great place to swim and hang out. Now it is prone to rockslides making it very dangerous, making this safe way to see it one of the few such chances that you will find.

DUE TO THE ROAD CLOSURE AT MILE MARKER 39, THIS EXCURSION IS CURRENTLY NOT OFFERING THE CIRCULAR ROUTE. INSTEAD, WE HEAD IN & OUT THE “FRONT WAY” FORTUNATELY, ALL HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ROAD ARE STILL INCLUDED. JUST THE “BACKSIDE” DESERT DRIVE IS MISSED. THE NATIONAL PARK IS OUR TURNAROUND SPOT.

How Long Is The Bamboo Forest Hike In Maui?

The Pipiwai Trail is located at the Pools Of Ohe’o in Haleakala National Park 8 miles past Hana on Maui’s east side. The trail is 4 miles round trip and takes about 2 hours. With swimming at the waterfall and exploring you could spend up to 4 hours on this trail.

What Should I Wear?

Comfortable hiking shoes are a must! We also recommend a hat and sunscreen. You may want to pack a light jacket in case of showers.
What Kind Of Vehicles Do You Use?

We operate different vehicles for various sized groups. We only offer private tours so any remaining seats will be left empty no matter which vehicle we are in. For groups of 6 guests or fewer we like to use our 8-passenger Honda Odyssey minivan. It’s a very comfortable ride. Spacious yet small enough to allow for an intimate experience. We also have a 10-passenger & 15-passenger Ford Transit touring van. Both have lots of space and are very comfortable.
