This full-day tour begins bright and early with a pickup from your hotel or condo before stopping at 7:15 am for a picnic on Maui’s North Shore where guests will enjoy a delicious breakfast comprised of croissant sandwiches, coffee, and juice. From there, your guide will begin the drive down the historic Hana Highway passing by Hookipa beach park before the landscape completely changes around you as you enter into the thick jungle canopy. The first major stop on the Road to Hana will be the Keanae Peninsula where guests can stretch their legs and explore the rugged coastline. As the tour continues you will see countless waterfalls alongside the road, and you will have the opportunity to jump into one of those waterfall pools and cool off at the Pua’a Ka’a State Wayside Park.
After hopping back into the van, it will be time to head into the beautiful and charming town of Hana. The town itself surrounds Hana Bay, which is a popular spot for local families to enjoy the cool water and black volcanic sand. From there, your guide will take you to an overlook where you can see the Seven Sacred Pools. Depending on the time of year these pools can be placid and calm or pumping with massive amounts of rainwater from the peak of Haleakala. This is a full circle tour of Hana, so where most tours would turn around and return back down Hana Highway, your guide will actually continue on through the desolate southeastern region of Kaupo. The road will eventually lead into the Upcountry region of Maui and from there your guide will return you to your original pickup location.

You will have admired the picturesque peninsula from many viewpoints along the route before reaching the turnout. The Ke’anae Peninsula is a spectacular one-mile-long finger of new lava that juts out from the Hana Highway’s cliff line. Historically, it was a taro-growing Hawaiian village, and much of the land is now used for taro fields. It’s said that dirt was transported down here basket-by-basket. After a tragic tsunami, the only building left standing from the old village is the Ke’anae Congregational Church.
The Rainbow Eucalyptus trees are a must-see on the Road to Hana. These beautiful trees originate from an island in the Philippines and only live in warm, humid climates. The rainbow colors come from outer layers of bark that peel away slowly over time and at different rates, leaving this gorgeous palette of colors. They look like they are made of plastic or clay, but we can assure you these incredible trees are 100% real.
Wailua Falls is a gorgeous and very easily accessible waterfall visible from The Hana Highway. This waterfall is one of many stops throughout the day, but this particular attraction has been called by many Maui’s most beautiful waterfall. This waterfall, cascading approximately 80 feet down the side of a lush jungle wall into a lovely plunge pool, is perfect for guests to jump in and enjoy the cool, refreshing water. No hiking is required!
