Description

The Private Big Island Experience tour is the perfect way to see all the Big Island offers. Departing from Kona International Airport, we head straight for Kīlauea by passing between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. Kīlauea is one of the most active volcanoes on earth and has continuously erupted since 1974. You'll explore the East Rift Zone, including Kīlauea Crater, Pu’u O’o Vent, and its lava flows that have created a new landscape.

After exploring Kīlauea, we fly north up the coast to Hilo town, the wettest town on earth. Continuing north, you'll see the seven windward valleys of Kohala and the home to some of the tallest waterfalls in the islands. You'll fly over historic towns and the summit of Kohala, the oldest of the five volcanoes on Hawai'i island. The tour will conclude with views of the coastline and luxury resorts that reside along the leeward shores.

Cancellation

There are NO cancellations on neighbor-island day trips. There are fees for changing 72-hours after booking the tour.
If the helicopter tour must be canceled by the company for any reason, guests will be refunded for the helicopter tour and welcomed on an extended sightseeing land tour.
Guests may opt for an early return and receive a refund for the helicopter tour portion. All other costs/change fees will be the responsibility of the guest(s).

Will There Be Other Guests Joining My Tour?

All tours are private, so you won't share the helicopter with another group. All tours must meet the minimum passenger requirement of 2-4 people. Parties of one will be charged at the minimum passenger rate and have the tour to themselves. Larger parties will be split into multiple helicopters, which may be able to depart at the same time, depending on availability.
Are There Any Discounts For This Tour?

Several discounts are available for this tour. Military personnel can receive a 10% discount as well as 50% off a third seat for their child or a free third seat for a wounded warrior. A military ID is required to redeem this discount. Kama'aina can also receive a 10% discount with a valid Hawai'i ID or proof of current residency. Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours occasionally offers other discounts and special offers on their Instagram @maunaloahelitours. They also automatically waive airport fees and fuel surcharges, providing everyone an affordable experience.
What Are The Restrictions For This Tour?

There are several age and weight restrictions for this tour. The total weight per person on the Big Island Experience Tour is 275 lbs., and not over 700 lbs. total as a group. Individuals who exceed the weight limit at the time of check-in will not be accommodated and will not be eligible for a refund, so please be honest. Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours also requires all passengers, including children, to sit in their own seat and wear a three-point seatbelt throughout the flight. For this reason, the minimum age to join this tour is 2 years. old. Women who are pregnant may join this tour through their seventh month, providing that they feel comfortable with the motion of the helicopter and are able to wear a three-point seatbelt.
