Enjoy an Inter-Island Round-Trip With a Knowledgeable Guide

You'll start your journey from either O‘ahu or Maui, where you'll board a plane for the short flight to the Big Island. Once there, you'll be met by your tour guide and taken to the Volcanoes National Park to explore Kīlauea and Hilo town for the day, before returning to your start destination as the evening approaches.

Description

This tour starts from HNL or Kahului airport. There you'll catch a flight to fly over to Hilo where your tour guide will meet you at the airport around 8:00 am. From here we journey through Hilo, seeing and stopping at various places till we reach the famed Rainbow Falls State Park on the edge of town.

The highlight of this tour is the many stops within Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park to see an active volcano and craters of the past along Chain of Craters Road. See the steam vents, check out the destruction of the crater due to the most recent eruption. See how the landscape changes and get other great information in the learning center of the Visitor Center.

Our tour also includes stops at a black sand beach, a lunch stop, scenic viewpoints, gardens, and more. Your guide will return you back to the airport in Hilo for your flight back to O'ahu. In all an 8-hour day on the Big Island of Hawai'i.

Transportation to and from your hotel on Maui or Oahu is available for an extra fee. Please choose that option during checkout.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Tours that include interisland airline flights from Maui, Oahu, or Kauaʻi are eligible for a refund only if the optional $30 per person trip insurance is purchased at checkout. Even with trip insurance, guests must notify us at least 7 days prior to the scheduled tour date to qualify for a refund or an approved date change.

If trip insurance is not purchased at the time of booking, all sales are final. No refunds will be issued for cancellations or no-shows after purchase. Any approved date or tour changes without insurance will be subject to applicable rescheduling fees.

By booking a tour that includes air travel, guests acknowledge and agree that flight schedules are managed solely by the airline and may be subject to delays, cancellations, or schedule changes beyond our control. Hawaii Tours is not responsible or liable for any airline delays, cancellations, or schedule changes.

In the event that a flight delay, cancellation, or disruption results in a guest missing part or all of a scheduled tour or activity, no refunds, rescheduling, or compensation will be provided for the missed portion of the tour.

Flights and tour itineraries are arranged based on availability at the time of booking. While Hawaii Tours carefully plans schedules to allow reasonable connection times, flight operations remain solely under the control of the airline and are subject to change.

There is no charge for date change or tour change based on tour availability outside of the 7 days cancellation period.

What Should I Bring?

All guest must bring a valid photo ID for the airport security check-in. Additionally, we recommend a light jacket and a camera/smartphone for capturing the scenic tour.
Will I See Lava Flowing On A Volcano Tour?

Active lava flow is unfortunately never guaranteed while visiting the park. In most cases though, visitors are able to view some lava flow up close from lava viewing access points (for hikers) and from a distance while on helicopter tours. There have been eruptions at the park approximately every two weeks for the last year. These eruptions last about 8 hours on average.
What Side Of The Big Island Can I Fly To?

There are two airports on the Big Island - One in Hilo which is the rugged and lush tropical windward side and the other is in Kona on the dry western side of the island. Hilo is where the island’s rainforests and waterfalls are and Kona is where the big resorts and beaches are.
How Much Hiking/Walking Is Involved In The Day Tours?

The day is tailored to the group but in most cases, the amount of walking will be less than 1/2 of a mile at a time. Almost all areas are wheelchair accessible except the lava tube and some pathways in the National Park. The vehicle does not have a wheelchair lift so someone in your group will have to be able to assist you into the vehicle and be able to fold up and store a wheelchair.
Are You With The Same Guide The Whole Day?

The guide will be with you from landing in Hilo to when you return to Honolulu or Maui. If you choose the helicopter add-on, the guide will drop you off at the helicopter company and pick you up after the flight.
Is there a lot of walking?

You can walk as much as you feel like on this tour. We encourage guests to get out and see some of the sites we stop at but how far you explore is entirely up to you.
