Snorkeling tours include snorkel gear, snacks, bottled water, and tropical sodas. You bring the sunblock, sunglasses, hat, and a towel. We take care of the rest! Captain Cook Snorkeling Cruises welcomes all skill levels from beginner to expert snorkelers. We will provide flotation devices if you wish and provide a short lesson on how to properly fit your mask and snorkel. Your group will be well-supervised while you’re in the water by our safety-trained crew.
Kealakekua Bay is a 315-acre marine sanctuary that boasts incredibly protected waters year round making it the best place in Hawaii for beginning snorkelers.Join us on our comfortable USCG certified vessel along the spectacular Kona Coast. Along the way, watch for dolphins, whales, and sea turtles. You may even see Spinner dolphin and humpback whales in season! We will anchor in the waters of Kealakekua Bay where you’ll swim above beautiful corals and incredible numbers of colorful tropical fish.
Learn about the history of this area from our experienced local crew. You will see the 27-foot-high obelisk that looms up from the coastal forest to mark the place where British explorer Captain Cook met his end. The obelisk was set up as a memorial by his fellow countrymen in 1878, on land that, while still technically part of the United States, is owned by the British. Your guide will describe what led to Cook’s demise and the part he played in modern Hawaiian history.

History buffs will enjoy Kealakekua Bay when learning about the arrival of Captain James Cook of the Royal English Navy and circumnavigator extraordinaire to this spot in 1779 and about Hawaiian Royalty who made it their home.
