The Maui Volcano Guided Bike Day Tour is a very popular option for visitors to the island. The tour begins at the baseyard in Hailiimaile, where guests are provided with free juice and snacks. Then, they board a guided van tour to the entrance of Haleakala National Park (go into the park with another tour).
From there, participants are able to bike down the mountain for many miles. The tour concludes around 12:00-12:30pm, depending on the season. This is an excellent way to see some of Maui's most stunning scenery and enjoy a fun, active day out.

The downhill bike tour is a great way to see the island while getting some exercise. Before the tour begins, you will be able to enjoy some complimentary juice and snacks before loading up into the van to head up to the summit of Haleakala. Your guides will provide you with an extensive history of Haleakala National Park, its geology and an explanation of the rare plants and animals only found on Maui. In addition, your guides will also explain the significance of this mountain to Hawaiian culture. Riders are then fitted with helmets and safety gear before beginning their bike ride down the slopes of Haleakala.
The tour passes through the switchbacks of Haleakala Ranch, visits the town Makawao, and ends at the beachside town of Paia (or Haiku if taking the sightseeing tour combo). Riders are sure to enjoy stunning views of the island's landscape along the way. Restrictions
To experience the Maui Volcano Guided Bike Day Tour, all riders must adhere to the following restrictions:
- Must be a competent, experienced, and confident bike rider. You should be able to get on and off the bike safely, keep it under complete control at all times, and be able to maneuver the bike through 180-degree turns, as well as at speeds of 18-25mph.
- A minimum of 15 years of age. Anyone under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
- Must not be pregnant.
- The maximum weight is 280lbs due to the bike manufacturer's capacity.
- A minimum of 4’10” tall.
- Closed-toed shoes only. No exceptions.
- Capable of engaging in activity at higher elevations.
- Not currently taking medication that may cause drowsiness or fatigue.
- Must sign, understand, and acknowledge all risks involved in this tour.
- Need to sign an acknowledgment of risk form.
- Required to view “Leave No Trace Video”.
- Due to high elevation, no pregnant women are allowed on this tour, either as a biker or a van rider.
Cancellation Policy
Any request for a refund 72 hours or more prior to the start of the tour or activity is honored with a full refund.
No refunds are issued for any cancellations inside the 72-hour period, prior to the start of your tour. There is no refund for no-shows. There is no charge for date change or tour change based on tour availability outside of the 72-hour cancellation period.
