The views as we cross the bridge to Ford Island show you a new perspective on the harbor. This still active military base is home to Battleship Row where the USS Missouri, a battleship is docked. This floating museum marks the end of World War 2 in the Pacific as the Japanese Articles of Surrender was signed on the deck of the “Mighty Mo” in Tokyo Bay in September of 1945. Explore the main deck as the huge turret guns tower overhead. Stand in the spot where the Japanese surrender documents were signed, then venture below deck where you’ll get a first-hand look at what life on board was like on a Navy battleship during WWII.

One of our first stops is the USS Arizona Memorial. This part of the tour begins with a documentary film in the theater about the Japanese attack and the events that led up to it. It includes actual footage and photos of that fateful day when over 2,400 Navy, Marine, Army, and civilian personnel lost their lives. Afterward, you will board a Navy ship that will cross the harbor to the Arizona Memorial which is suspended over (without touching) the sunken battleship. It is a somber experience to see the marble “Wall of Remembrance” listing the 1,177 souls who died when the battleship exploded on December 7th, 1941, most of whom are interned in the sunken ship below your feet.

Our tour starts at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Here you can explore multiple informative displays, exhibits and interpretive signage along an extensive walkway within the visitor center grounds. Guests can learn in detail about the Japanese attack, the U.S. battles and losses in the Pacific and even what Pearl Harbor was like in ancient times. The Visitor Center is also where you can get lunch or snacks on your own.

Description

The Arizona Memorial is one of the most popular visitor destinations in all of Hawaii. The Japanese surprise attack in December of 1941 profoundly changed the United States and the world. The expansive visitor center exhibits pay tribute to that infamous day in when the United States entered World War 2 and shares a fascinating look back into a bygone era of 1940’s Hawaii and a country at war. The Arizona is the final resting place for many of the 1,177 crewmen who lost their lives on December 7, 1941, when their ship was bombed by the Japanese. The USS Arizona was one of eight battleships stationed at Pearl Harbor that fateful day.

The Battleship Missouri also pays tribute to those lost during World War II. On its decks, visitors can see the spot where Japan signed its formal surrender, effectively ending World War 2. You will have the opportunity to explore the inside of the “Mighty Mo” multiple decks, galleys, rooms, and guns.

Afterward, we head out from the harbor for a great view of the city from Punchbowl – the National Cemetery of the Pacific. Then, we head to our final stop in downtown Honolulu to check out the King Kamehameha Statue and other nearby historic buildings including Iolani Palace.

*Note: Occasionally, unforeseen circumstances might lead the Navy to halt or limit the capacity of boat trips to the USS Arizona Memorial. Should this happen, you might be placed on a standby list. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds in these instances, but we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Despite this, you will still have access to the exhibits, the Visitors’ Center, and other monuments within the park.

We ask that visitors to the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites dress appropriately and respectfully by avoiding swimsuits. While sandals and flip-flops are permitted, we encourage you to wear closed-toe shoes as there is a lot of walking when visiting the sites. In addition, we recommend visitors avoid skirts and dresses as well as high heels.
Dress comfortably for the weather but keep in mind that shoes and shirts are required on the USS Arizona Memorial.
No bags are allowed for security reasons, and iPad cases or clutch wallets are not permitted either — a wallet must be no larger than a regular-sized cell phone. The bag storage facility can store your belongings for a fee of $7.00 per bag or $10.00 per bag for more oversized luggage.

In the event of cancellation or request for a change to your reservation, please note the following. For tours originating from Oahu, there is no charge for date change or tour change based on tour availability, but it must be made 72 hours prior to the original tour day. No refunds are issued for any tours within the 72 hours prior to the start of your tour.

No stop is guaranteed to be operating on the day of your tour. We have no control of Navy and Army operations, which may result in the closure of Ford Island or the boats going to the Arizona Memorial without notice. In the event of this occurring, our guides will make up for it in a variety of ways, so your experience is always worthwhile.

Are There Things For Kids To Do At Pearl Harbor?

Absolutely! A Pearl Harbor tour is a great way for the entire family to experience the historic landmark. Children often enjoy the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum and Park due to the hands-on nature of the exhibits and open area to explore. (However, please note that children under the age of four are not permitted on the actual USS Bowfin Submarine.)
How Long Does It Take To See Pearl Harbor?

You’ll only need a day to explore historic Pearl Harbor. The total length of your visit will depend on how many of the five historic sites (the Visitor Center, the USS Arizona Memorial, the USS Missouri, the USS Bowfin Submarine and Park, and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum) you plan on seeing. You can spend up to 10 hours on tour in and around Pearl Harbor with a complete museum tour.
Is the boat ride to the Arizona Memorial included in this Pearl Harbor tour?

Yes, all our guided tours to Pearl Harbor include a ticket to ride the boat to the Arizona Memorial. This experience includes Arizona Memorial & USS Missouri tour tickets, and access to both locations. Your guide will hand out those tickets in the morning at the Visitor Center.
Can I Go Inside The Missouri Battleship?

You can explore all over the Battleshipʻs 2-3 open decks. Visit the shipʻs control center, mess halls, rooms, kitchens and everything on the main deck. Stand beside itʻs massive guns or touch the spot where a Kamikaze pilot struck the ship.

Is There Anywhere To Buy Food During The Tour Or Bring Our Own?

There are two to three places on this tour where you can purchase meals or snacks. Depending on the schedule the guide has planned, your first stop may be at a small cafe or local store if anyone wants a quick snack before heading into Pearl Harbor. At the Pearl Harbor Visitorʻs Center, there is a snack shop with pre-made refrigerated items and other packaged snacks. Once we travel to the Battleship Missouri, the variety increases. You can choose a good old-fashion hot dog, pizza, shave ice and other treats. There are a couple of food trucks on the pier next to the ship so you can stop and get something at any time during our time at that stop.
For the Arizona, Pearl Harbor and Missouri tours, can I carry a clear purse or backpack?

Any bags must be clear so that you can see right through them. Most backpacks or purses do not fit this description. This tour takes you through secure areas at Pearl Harbor so it is best not to bring any backpacks at all on your tour. You will have to securely store it as our vehicles must be cleared of those items when we drive over to board the Battleship Missouri on Ford Island, an active military base.
