Volcano Adventure Tour Features
Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park
Visit Hawai’i Volcano National Park with an expert, local guide to take you to the most worthwhile stops and views. Stops include a lava tube that you can walk through, many overlooks, and short hikes, as well as the Volcano House where you can purchase souvenirs. We will then travel a short distance down the Chain of Craters road, making stops along the way.
During eruptions we will make adjustments to the itinerary depending on where lava is visible, including changing pickup times for the best views that day. So, if you are in the area during an eruption, be sure sign up here so you can see it from all the best vantage points.
Historic Hilo and Culturally Important Sites
A must-see is Queen Lili‘uokalani Gardens – you will marvel at the beauty of the largest Japanese-style gardens outside of Tokyo. We will visit the original King Kamehameha Statue in the park and check out some of the sites in the historical downtown section. There are plenty of stories to tell and your guide will keep you entertained with historical knowledge, legends and more.
Banyans, Beaches, and Waterfalls
The area around Hilo is filled with tropical beauty. The daily rain makes this area a complete opposite to the Kona area on the same Big Island, and you will see that difference. The world as seen from this beautiful area is filled with cascading waterfalls and the lush greenery of life.
This tour will make stops for beautiful waterfalls, flowers, and overlooks around the Hilo area. The scenery here is rich and can be overwhelming to the uninitiated. So, let us take you to the best spots, where you can see the best of the island in one trip. Our route includes stops at a black sand beach and Rainbow Falls.
Feel The Awesome Power of Madame Pele
Listen as your Certified Guide “talks story” and shares the legends of Hawai‘i’s most revered goddess, Madame Pele. As the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes and fire, she is known as “She who shapes the sacred land.” Pele has added more than 70 acres of new land to the island's southeastern coast since 1983. As you stand at the crater's edge, you will feel the heat coming from steam vents and look into the crater where, if you’re lucky, you can see lava coming through the surface.

Look for Sea Turtles At A Black Sand Beach
Description
Discover 10 Hawai‘i island highlights in one day on this comprehensive tour. Instead of juggling cars and cabs, you can relax and enjoy the sights with a guide to handle planning and navigation. Visit various attractions such as Rainbow Falls, a black sand beach, and explore Volcanoes National Park to see and learn about its volcanoes, craters, and lava flows.
In Hilo, we will drive through Banyan Park on our way to see the famous Rainbow Falls. A stop at Lili‘uokalani Gardens is perfect for a photo op and a look across the bay! On to Richardson State Beach to walk along this fascinating black sand beach and maybe see a turtle or two.
Volcanoes National Park is the highlight of our day, as it is the site of the most recent volcanic eruption. Experience the heat rising from the ground where molten lava had covered the whole area and steam vents where gases are being released all the time. We will visit numerous overlooks, take small hikes, walk through the Thurston Lava Tube, and hopefully see lava flowing during periods of eruption, (not guaranteed.)
Your guide will spend as much time as possible in the park exploring lava flows, craters, and the beautiful native forest. Once we leave the park, we will make a couple of stops so you can purchase some gifts, souvenirs, or maybe a little snack or two.

Kuhio Grille - $10-$30 / per person
The family history starts in the 1900s when Japanese immigrants moved to Hawai'i to work in the sugar plantations. They soon began farming and selling taro as well as the leaves. Grandma would make laulau to feed the family and friends, fresh meat wrapped and cooked in taro leaves. It became so popular they opened a restaurant to feed everyone, that was over 25 years ago.
