Taking a glass bottom boat tour is one of the best ways to see the beautiful coral and fish that inhabit the waters around Waikīkī. The transparent bottom of the boat allows you to view them in their natural habitat, and the knowledgeable guides provide interesting commentary about the marine life you see. Tours typically last around an hour, and are a great way to spend a morning or afternoon in Waikīkī!
The boat you will be riding aboard for the duration of the tour is a 50-foot powered catamaran with on-deck viewing ports through which you can see the ocean below. With a glass-bottom boat such as this one, you can enjoy what you see around you just as much as what you see below your feet. Keep an eye out for sea turtles, tropical fish, and vibrant coral reefs, and you may even be able to spot a shipwreck hidden along Oʻahu’s South Shore. The boat can accommodate up to 49 people so there is plenty of room for your entire party.
Oʻahu’s Diamond Head is a well-known landmark that can be seen from all over the island. Formed by a long-extinct volcano, Diamond Head is now a State Monument and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hawaii. The name came from a British expedition in 1825 where British sailors discovered sparkling volcanic calcite crystals in the sand and mistook them for diamonds.
The coral reef in Hawaii is one of the most beautiful and diverse in the world. The clear waters around the islands provide perfect conditions for coral to grow, and as a result, there is a vast array of different types of coral to be found here. The reef also provides a home for thousands of fish, as well as other marine creatures such as dolphins and sea turtles. It is an amazing sight to behold, and a trip to Hawaiʻi is not complete without seeing it!
