Description
The Plant A Tree Experience offered by the Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative allows participants to contribute meaningfully to Hawaiʻi’s environment by planting a native Hawaiian tree, such as koa, in a restored forest on Hawaiʻi Island. This program helps reforest lands that were once deforested and degraded, supporting the recovery of native flora and fauna and improving the ecosystem's overall health.
Participants will meet at the Hawaiʻi Island Legacy Forest and be guided through the reforestation site, learning about the importance of native species like koa and sandalwood, the ecological history of the area, and the significant role these trees play in restoring the island’s natural habitats. After the tree planting, participants can personalize their tree with a plaque or dedicate it to honor a loved one, creating a lasting environmental legacy. You can even track your tree online over the years.
This experience is family-friendly and open to all ages. Whether you're a resident or visitor to Hawaiʻi, this is a powerful way to leave a positive environmental impact while connecting with the island’s natural beauty and rich cultural history.
