This is a family-oriented experience appropriate for all ages.
Treat your group to a private excursion on a traditional double-hulled sailing canoe. This 2-hour trip includes live music, snacks and drinks, and storytelling with local Hawaiian hosts.
Experience a unique and enriching journey aboard our 46’ traditional Polynesian-built sailing canoe, Kamoauli. Explore the rich ancestral knowledge and stories connected to the magnificent features and landmarks you see - the majestic mountains, the rolling ridges, the ancient irrigation systems, the lush valleys, and the beautiful coastline. Our experienced guides, the kupuna, will lead you through the historical places and share the traditions and beliefs of the kanaka maoli, the Hawaiian people. With personalized experiences, we aim to deepen your understanding and appreciation for Hawaiian values, resources, community, history, culture, and innovations.
Learn about the incredible journey of the Kamoauli co-founders and their mission to revitalize cultural education. In 2017, they set sail to Tonga, where they discovered the magnificent H.M. Salote - a meticulously crafted wa'a kaulua made from Tongan cedar wood. Bringing her back to Hawai'i, they began a remarkable transformation to fulfill their vision. They completed the reconstruction of the H.M. Salote into the magnificent Kamoauli in just one hundred days. From the initial disassembly, where only five 'iako connected the hulls, to the addition of railings, a canopy frame, benches, crash bulkheads, fiberglass reinforcements, fore-beam, and motor mounts - Kamoauli emerged as a testament to the power of dedication and passion. Immerse yourself in this unique, indigenous platform and discover a new way to connect with cultural heritage.
