Private West Maui Sightseeing Adventure Features
Nā-kālele Point Blowhole
The blowhole at Nā-kālele Point has been dazzling locals and tourists alike for decades with its incredibly powerful blasts of seawater. A blowhole is a tunnel through the rock that leads to a cave that is partially submerged. When the ocean rises or waves smash against it, a forceful jet of water and air shoots out through the hole. Be sure to enjoy this unique natural phenomenon from a safe distance.
West Maui Shield Volcano
The island of Maui is made up of two separate dormant volcanoes. Haleakalā, the highest point on East Maui, rises to 10,023 feet. The West Maui shield volcano, by contrast, erupted a million years ago and at the highest point only reaches 5,788 feet. Hundreds of thousands of years of stream-cutting, landslides, and other erosion processes have created the extremely steep—and utterly magnificent—West Maui Mountains that we know and love today.
