Tour Description

Check-in will begin 45 minutes prior to your scheduled departure at the Kona Airport. After departure your pilot will begin the tour by flying over the iconic Kona coffee district where some of the finest coffee in the world is grown, roasted and distributed. The next stop is Volcanoes National Park where you will be able to see the current volcanic activity as well as learn from your pilot some of the history surrounding the Big Island’s most famous landmarks.

Your surroundings will get decidedly more lush as you head east to the fertile Hilo side of the Big Island. Much like the eastern side of Maui, the eastern region of the Big Island captures water high up in the mountains and free flowing streams and waterfalls give way to a lush tropical rainforest. As a child King Kamehameha played and explored in the deep valleys of Kohala, where your pilot will take you during the next part of the tour for a landing. By flying into the valleys you will be able to skip the hours of walking it usually takes to access them, and instead step out of the helicopter right into the middle of incredible scenery. Upon reboarding the helicopter your pilot will begin making their way back to the Kona airport by way of the white sand beaches and resorts of Waikoloa. Return time is expected to be 1.5 – 2 hours after departure.

How old do you have to be to fly on a helicopter? Do you have any policies that apply only to children?

Children under the age of two (2) fly free when seated in the lap of a paying adult – proof of age required for lap children under two (2). Children 24 months and over require an individual full-fare seat. Children must be at least 12 years old to sit next to an open door while aircraft is in flight.
What should we wear for our helicopter flight?

We recommend removing earrings as they can interfere with the seal of your headset causing discomfort and decreased functionality of the earpieces. The tightly fitting headsets may also bend or damage certain styles of earrings. Please wear dark-colored clothing. Lighter clothing will cause a reflection in any windows and show up in your photos as well as the photos of other guests. Flights With Landings: Please wear closed-toe shoes and long pants to protect against uneven terrain and brush. Many of our landings are in full sun, so you may want to apply sunblock prior to your flight or wear protective clothing.
Should we take motion sickness pills before our helicopter flight?

If you are prone to motion sickness, then we would suggest taking something before you fly. Our helicopters do provide a smooth ride and most people do great! Minor motion sickness can also be avoided by taking ginger chews. And they’re delicious!
