If you struggle to focus your mind on the poses instead of the to-do list that awaits you after class, trying to balance on a paddleboard while doing yoga would fix that problem. While practicing on the water, you are more likely to remain focused on each pose and the transition of the poses for the basic fear of losing balance and falling in. This helps us control the mind to be more present. You have to pay attention to your body alone to find stability, and since teachers often stress that this is your practice and everyone moves differently through poses, this is a huge benefit of SUP yoga.

Combining SUP and yoga gives you a full body workout and it’s relaxing at the same time. Paddleboarding requires that you maintain your balance while you work your upper body. Keeping your arms straight and twisting from your torso as you paddle. Adding some yoga poses into the workout on the water makes for a unique challenge. When we get onto the water, we will incorporate a mindful flow and work on various standing poses while learning how to adjust our yoga practice to the water.

Stand up paddle board yoga is the perfect way to end your busy day and experience the magic of the ocean at night. Our class begins as the hustle and bustle of the day ends and stillness falls upon the evening. The calm, water is lit up by our underwater lights in beautiful fluorescent blue, green, purple, and red colors, so you can experience a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues rippling across the water. Fish swim lazily below your board and the experience will be meditative.
Our yoga practice is slow and calm, and we allow ourselves to move intentionally as we take in the beauty of the city lights and the glowing ocean waters that surround us. Friday night classes are extra special as we wrap up with watching the fireworks show from the water. Enjoy the display from the calm of your paddle board.
SUP yoga is also an excellent way to engage in neuromotor exercise, increasing balance, coordination, and proprioception. Standing on a SUP board enlists all the core muscles together as you keep your balance for your yoga practice.
