MAUI NŌ KA ’OI
There’s no place quite like Maui. We have something for everyone, whether you’re looking for a relaxing vacation or an adventure-filled getaway. Our famous art galleries are not to be missed, and the views from the summit of Haleakala are simply breathtaking. Or, if you’re looking for something more active, take a drive along the road to Hana and explore our tropical jungle paradise from a zipline. And, of course, no visit to Maui would be complete without spending some time snorkeling in our world-famous underwater preserve. Home to sea turtles, dolphins, and countless other amazing creatures, it’s an experience you’ll never forget. So come on over to the Valley Isle! You’ll have the time of your life.
Snorkeling & Diving – You need to get wet!
Maui is a diver’s paradise with crystal-clear waters and abundant sea life. If you’re not a scuba diver, there are a multitude of incredible snorkeling spots: Molokini is a small islet off the coast of Maui that is enormously popular with snorkelers. The islet is part of an ancient volcanic crater teeming with fish, and the clear waters offer excellent visibility. It is a protected marine reserve, and our boat tours will reach this incredible spot. For even more fun, you can dive on a shipwreck! Snorkel with Hawaii’s famous sea turtles at Turtle Town, located on the south shore of Maui. Whatever snorkeling spot you choose, you’re sure to have an incredible experience exploring the underwater world of Maui.
If you are scuba-certified, then you have choices of several different dives where you will see a huge variety of marine life, corals, and fish. Molokini Backwall is one of the most dramatic dive sites in Maui County, with 150 feet of visibility. In the winter, you can even hear the whales singing underwater! Not comfortable with scuba? Maui SNUBA is the best of both worlds – a hybrid between snorkeling and scuba diving.
Check out tours that get you up close and personal with migrating humpback whales (during the winter months), native Hawaiian Monk seals, and spinner dolphins. There is a perfect choice of underwater activities for every age and experience level in Maui’s pristine waters.

Haleakala Crater – A rare and sacred landscape
Haleakala National Park is one of the most special places on Earth. As the world’s largest dormant volcano, Haleakala stands 10,023 feet tall and last erupted in 1790. The Haleakala Crater is now a popular destination for tourists worldwide who come to see the incredible views. Haleakala Crater is also home to many endangered species of plants and animals, some of which exist nowhere else in the world. The Crater is an extraordinary place that should be protected for future generations. Come visit Haleakala National Park and renew your spirit amid the stark volcanic landscapes and sub-tropical rainforest.
There are several fun and interesting activities you can plan around a visit to Haleakala. An all-time favorite activity is a sunrise tour. You’ll be glad you woke up at 0-dark-thirty to see the sun come over the edge of the crater. This volcano’s 10,023-foot summit is one of Hawaii’s most magnificent sunrise viewing locations. Then, you can take a lovely stroll on a couple of the trails in the park to see the unique plants and animals. Or take a bike tour if you prefer. However you do it, a visit to Haleakala will be one to remember.

Art Galleries – Discover hidden gems, take a class
While you’re visiting Maui, take some time to explore the rich art scene of the island. Maui is a hub for artists who call the island home. Some are tucked away hidden gems that mostly locals know about, and some have been around for decades. With its stunning natural beauty and rich culture, it’s no wonder that so many creative people are drawn to the island. There are galleries everywhere, showcasing the work of local artists. There are paint and photograph galleries, wood sculpture and ceramic. If you enjoy beautiful glass works, we have that too – in fact you can even take a glassblowing class!
Gallery hopping is a great way to spend an afternoon, and you might even discover a new favorite artist. If you’re looking for a truly unique art experience, dedicate a day to driving around the island and exploring all of the different galleries. You’ll be amazed by the wealth of talent on Maui, and you might just find your next favorite piece of art. Whether you’re interested in traditional Hawaiian art or contemporary paintings, you’re sure to find something that inspires you.
Helicopter Tours – Fly high over the beautiful scenery
One of the best ways to see Maui is from a helicopter. The island is known as the “Valley Isle” because of its two mountain ranges, and a helicopter tour from West Maui gives you a great view of the valleys and waterfalls. Another spectacular landscape of valleys and waterfalls is Haleakala. The northeastern slopes have hundreds of waterfalls cascading through the jungle forest valleys along the Hana side. There are dozens above it and often a few farther down each valley for every waterfall you see along the road to Hana. From the air, it’s truly stunning how many waterfalls there are – with some even cascading into the ocean! Tours can also include a flight across the channel to the island of Molokai, where you can see the thousand-foot high ocean cliffs. The views from the helicopter are simply breathtaking and something that you will not want to miss. So, whether this is your first time or your tenth time to Maui, make sure to consider a helicopter tour and see the island like never before.

Luau – No trip to Hawaii is complete without one
A luau is a special celebration of Polynesian culture that includes music, dance, food, and much more. This festive event is perfect for family and friends who want to have a great time while learning about the traditions of several different countries in Oceania. The Hawaiian food at a luau is always delicious, and the main course is usually a whole hog cooked in an imu (underground oven).
Not sure what foods to try? Definitely the Kalua Pig, Mahi Mahi, Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, Ahi Poke, delicious fresh fruit, and for dessert try at least two. Haupia pudding and Mochi are two favorites in the islands.
After dinner, sit back and relax as you enjoy an unforgettable evening of traditional Hawaiian music and dance. In addition to the fantastic food, the live entertainment will keep you entertained all night long. You can expect to see music and dances from the traditions of Tahiti, Tonga, Samoa, and New Zealand. This is a great way to learn about the many island cultures that migrated to Hawaii hundreds of years ago.
