Every Island in the Hawaiian Archipelago is unique unto itself, but only one carries a Hawaiian saying that’s centuries old. Maui “No Ka Oi” means “Maui is the best!” and it is no wonder! Maui is well-known for its prominent mountains and deep waterfall-lined valleys, but even the surrounding sea hosts an abundance of marine wildlife who also agree that “Maui no ka ʻoi” (Maui is the best). From the annual migration of Humpback Whales from Alaska to the rare Hawaiian Monk seal to spinner dolphins, Maui has some of the most remarkable Marine Preservation districts in the state.
The best Maui ocean tours can include activities such as kayaking the coastline to find marine life, boating to Molokini on small-but-fast ocean rafts, taking leisurely snorkels with turtles or savoring a wonderful sunset dinner cruise. Maui is the second-largest island of the main Hawaiian islands and is quite a bit bigger than most visitors think. While the road to the summit of Haleakala is only 38 miles long, the road is a steep ascent of switchbacks that can take over 1.5 hours to drive. Likewise, the road to Hana is over 60 miles to the Pools of ʻOheʻo. Even the best-planned day can, in reality, be 10-12 hours long, so be sure to plan your vacation time accordingly.
Much of the islandʻs incredible beauty is in the remote valleys and rugged coastlines whose magnificence can only be fully appreciated by air, making helicopter tours one of the most popular excursions on Maui. There are several flight options that allow a birds-eye view of places like Haleakala National Park and the West Maui Mountains. Longer tours include aerial views of neighboring Molokaʻi whose incredible 1,000 ft. high ocean cliffs leave you in awe. No trip to Maui would be complete without an air tour and we have a great selection to choose from!
